More than 50 firefighters from North Highlands, Cold Spring, Garrison, and Continental Village Fire Departments recently came together for a comprehensive foam firefighting training exercise conducted in partnership with the Putnam County Hazardous Materials (HazMat) Team.

The hands-on training focused on the proper deployment and application of firefighting foam used to combat flammable liquid fires and other hazardous materials incidents. Participants received instruction on foam properties, equipment operation, safety procedures, and effective suppression techniques.

The exercise provided firefighters with the opportunity to work alongside members of the Putnam County HazMat Team, enhancing interagency cooperation and strengthening regional emergency response capabilities.

Crews practiced coordinated operations designed to simulate incidents involving fuel spills.

Training officers emphasized the importance of maintaining proficiency with foam operations, noting that these incidents require specialized knowledge and teamwork to ensure the safety of responders and the public.

The successful training exercise highlighted the strong partnership between local fire departments and the Putnam County HazMat Team. By training together, firefighters are better prepared to respond effectively to complex emergencies throughout the region.
