| The North Highlands Fire Department has expanded its emergency response capabilities with the addition of a new Ford F-250 utility vehicle, which has officially been placed into service.
The truck will serve multiple roles throughout the community such as assisting the Philipstown Volunteer Ambulance Corps during EMS calls by providing additional personnel and scene support. Department officials say the vehicle will also be used to tow the department's Polaris Ranger, allowing firefighters to quickly access remote areas during mountain rescues and brush fires where traditional fire apparatus cannot safely travel.
In addition to emergency response, the F-250 will be deployed for traffic control at motor vehicle accidents, road closures, and other incidents, helping to improve firefighter safety while protecting motorists traveling through emergency scenes.
Fire officials said the addition of the utility vehicle enhances the department's versatility and ability to respond to the wide variety of incidents that occur throughout the Town of Philipstown.
Whether supporting EMS crews, navigating rugged terrain for backcountry rescues, or assisting at roadside emergencies, the new vehicle is expected to become an important asset to the department's daily operations.
