North Highlands Engine Co. #1 Reminds Residents to Make House Numbers Visible
When an emergency strikes, every second counts.
The members of North Highlands Engine Co. #1 would like to remind all residents of the importance of having clearly visible house numbers.

Whether responding to a fire, medical emergency, or other emergency situation, firefighters and first responders need to locate your home as quickly as possible. Missing, faded, or poorly placed house numbers can cause unnecessary delays when time matters most.

Here are a few simple steps you can take to help us find you:

• Make Numbers Visible: Use large, easy-to-read numbers that can be clearly seen from the road.

• Light Them Up: Install reflective numbers or lighting so your address is visible at night.

• Keep Them Clear: Trim bushes, trees, and other vegetation that may block your address.

• Mark Your Mailbox: Display your house number clearly on both sides when appropriate.

• Long Driveways: Make sure your address is clearly marked at the road, especially if your home is not visible from the street.

Take a moment tonight to step outside and look at your house from the road. Can you clearly see your house number in the dark? If not, neither can we!

The members of North Highlands Engine Co. #1 encourage every resident to take a few minutes to check their address numbers.

Help us help you! A clearly marked address could save valuable seconds when you need us most.
